Successful Trade and Economic Promotion Event for Gansu Province Held in San Francisco, USA
On the morning of April 9, local time, a successful trade and economic promotion event for Gansu Province was held in San Francisco, the United States. Zhang Jingang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Gansu Provincial Party Committee and Vice Governor of Gansu Province, Song Guoxuan, Acting Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco, Donna Colson, Mayor of Burlingame, California, USA, and Marilyn Librers, President of the US-China Silicon Valley Association, attended the promotion event and delivered speeches.
Last year, Gansu achieved imports and exports of RMB 1.026 billion with the United States, of which exports amounted to RMB 847 million. Gansu products were well-received by American enterprises and consumers. The friendly delegation from Gansu Province visited California with the aim of promoting economic and trade exchanges and cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two regions, particularly exploring new cooperation opportunities in fields such as new energy, modern agriculture, cultural tourism, education, food, and wine, and sharing technological innovation achievements, ultimately bringing more tangible benefits to the people of both regions.
Acting Consul General Song Guoxuan expressed that the trade and economic promotion event showcased Gansu’s sincere willingness for economic and trade cooperation. He believed that friends from the business circles of Gansu and California would fully utilize this platform to continuously increase the volume of China-US economic and trade cooperation, while enhancing its quality and efficiency.
Mayor Donna Colson, extended her warm welcome to the Gansu delegation, tracing the friendship between Burlingame and China. She introduced Burlingame’s cooperation with China in areas such as life sciences, furniture manufacturing, clean energy, and climate change response, expressing her willingness for more cooperation with Gansu in the future.
Marilyn Librers, President of the US-China Silicon Valley Association, elaborated on the association's mission and contributions in promoting commerce and trade between the two countries, expressing her hope to establish working contacts with Gansu Province and various cities to conduct more mutual visits and advance cooperation in commerce, trade, and friendly relations.
The primary objectives of this promotion event were to strengthen the friendly exchanges between Gansu Province and California, promote Gansu’s unique resources and advantageous industries, and deepen cooperation between the two sides in trade, investment, cultural tourism, and other fields. Through local government and non-governmental exchanges, the event aimed to contribute to the establishment of a win-win and healthier China-US relationship. Additionally, the organizing committee of the 30th China Lanzhou Investment and Trade Fair invited representatives from the US business community to participate in the “Lanzhou Investment and Trade Fair” and conduct inspection and negotiation visits in July this year.
During the on-site promotion session, Zou Jun, Deputy Director of the Department of Commerce of Gansu Province, promoted Gansu’s resource and industrial advantages from four aspects: History, Vigour,Nature and Culture of Gansu Province,and highlighted the measures to serve foreign investors and preferential policies to attract foreign investment in Gansu. Meanwhile, he warmly invite American entrepreneurs to explore the Symphony Silk Road, perceive the delightful Gansu for more trade exchanges and investment cooperation, and jointly write a new chapter of win-win development. Shi Peiwen, Chairman of Gansu Cultural Tourism Group, promoted Gansu’s tourism resources. The leaders of Lanzhou Foci, Hailin Zhongke, Great Wall Juice, Jincang Biology, Zhongshida, and Feitian Sunshine respectively introduced their enterprises and specialty products.
During the promotion event, a signing ceremony was held, with seven enterprises from Gansu, including Hailin Zhongke, Great Wall Juice, Feitian Sunshine, Kaichen Industry and Trade, Lanzhou Foci, Zhongshida, and Lanzhou Yuyi, signing eight import and export agreements with American companies, totaling USD 30.175 million in contract value. Wuwei Jincang Biology and the Provincial Exhibition Service Center signed two cooperation agreements, attracting USD 5 million in foreign investment, achieving fruitful results. The latter half of the promotion event featured cooperation and exchange activities, with enthusiastic exchanges between Chinese and American entrepreneurs, laying a solid foundation for subsequent cooperation.
