As the most influential large-scale outdoor art event in Gannan Prefecture, the Jiuse Gannan Shambhala Tourism and Art Festival has been successfully held for 21 editions. This year's festival, themed "Unity and Progress over 75 Years, Celebrating the Prosperous Era of Jiuse Gannan," will feature six key activities: the opening ceremony, the 2nd Lingshi Music Festival, the 9th Ethnic Sports Games in Hezuo City, Guozhuang Dance Experience, investment promotion, and a performance of the national intangible cultural heritage “Namtso Tibetan Opera.” The festival aims to promote Gannan's unique cultural and tourism resources, enhance the brand effect of “Sacred Gannan · Spiritual Journey,” and further advance the development of a model area for strengthening the sense of the Chinese national community.

In recent years, Gannan Prefecture has prioritized cultural tourism as a key industry, implementing high-standard projects such as building 17 benchmark cultural tourism villages across 8 counties and cities, establishing 103 specialized tourism villages covering 99 towns, and creating 2,341 eco-civilization and well-off villages that cover 88% of natural villages. The region has also developed over 3,000 boutique homestays and star-rated farmhouses, supporting local residents in employment and entrepreneurship close to home. By innovating a “whole-region, all-season” model for cultural tourism development, Gannan Prefecture achieved a total tourism revenue of 4.97 billion yuan in the first half of 2024.
