First Coke Export Train from Our Province Successfully Launched in 2026
On January 4, 2026, the first coke export train from our province (Wuwei - Uzbekistan Abukerei) was successfully launched at the Gansu (Wuwei) International Land Port. This marks a crucial step in deepening the westward opening-up, driving the export of local products, and expanding overseas markets for the province.
The train carried a total of 47 forty-foot containers of coke, departing from Wuwei South Station and exiting via the Horgos Port, arriving in Uzbekistan after a 9-day journey. Since its inaugural trip on October 29, 2025, the Wuwei coke export train has made a total of 4 trips, exporting approximately 7,000 metric tons of coke with a total value of about US$1.9 million.
In recent years, the Gansu Provincial Department of Commerce has fully leveraged the role of the channel logistics working group under the provincial inter-departmental joint meeting mechanism for promoting high-quality trade development. It has coordinated with departments including railways, customs, finance, transportation, and development and reform to strengthen policy support, enhance transport capacity guarantees, optimize customs clearance procedures, improve transport conditions, and build an efficient and unimpeded international logistics system. These efforts support the province's "seven locations, one screen, one channel" initiative. Subsequently, the operation of the China-Central Asia JSQ and China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan international multimodal scheduled block trains has been progressively approved. Additionally, Lanzhou has been designated as a node city for the China-Europe Railway Express, and the province's hub consolidation capacity continues to strengthen.
