How Do Minors Apply for Exit-Entry Documents? Lanzhou Public Security Answers Doubts
With the summer vacation approaching, some parents are preparing to take their children abroad for travel, but many parents who have such plans do not know how to apply for travel documents for their children. Recently, staff from the Lanzhou Public Security Exit-Entry Administration Department accepted an interview with reporters to answer questions for parents regarding matters related to minors applying for exit-entry documents.
Q: Can children with documents leave at any time?
A: If the child has already applied for exit-entry documents, please carefully check the validity period of the visa endorsement on the back of the passport and the Hong Kong and Macao Travel Permit to ensure a smooth trip. If traveling to visa-free countries or countries offering visa-on-arrival, a spontaneous trip can be made. Otherwise, visas for the destination country or region must be applied for in advance. If traveling to Hong Kong or Macao and the visa endorsement is within the validity period, departure can be made at any time. If the visa endorsement has expired, please promptly go to the public security exit-entry reception hall to apply for a visa endorsement.
Q: Where can exit-entry documents be applied for?
A: The National Immigration Administration introduced the policy of “nationwide processing” for exit-entry documents on April 1, 2019, which means that mainland residents can apply for exit-entry documents at any exit-entry administration window nationwide. There are currently 10 application locations in Lanzhou, and parents can accompany their children to the nearest one to apply.
Q: What materials are required for children to apply for exit-entry documents?
A: When minors under 16 years old apply for exit-entry documents, they must bring their own ID card or household register, and the guardian must bring their own ID card to go to the exit-entry reception hall together. It should be noted that: If the minor and the guardian are not in the same household register, or even if they are in the same household register, but the guardianship relationship cannot be clearly displayed, a legally valid certificate that can prove the guardianship relationship (such as a birth medical certificate) should also be submitted. If the guardian entrusts someone else to accompany the minor, a letter of entrustment and the accompanying person’s ID card must be submitted.
