On February 19, Tianjin Peking Opera Theater and Gansu Provincial Peking Opera Troupe held a signing ceremony at Tianjin Peking Opera Theater, officially signing an agreement on talent cultivation and professional support in Peking Opera between the two parties, adding a vivid stroke to the cultural and artistic collaboration and exchange between eastern and western regions, as well as the inheritance and development of Peking Opera art.

This exchange and collaboration event is organized by the cultural and tourism authorities of Tianjin and Gansu through concrete actions to implement Chinese President Xi Jinping's important instructions on deepening east-west collaboration and targeted assistance work, as well as the spirit of the reply letter to the young art workers of the China National Peking Opera Company. It aims to inherit and carry forward classic works while setting an example for cross-regional joint development and co-construction of troupes. The two regions will further deepen cooperation and make joint efforts in Peking Opera creation. They will explore development models for Peking Opera art in the new era, leverage collaborative support resources to complement each other's strengths, maximize resource utilization, and focus on enhancing troupes' overall capabilities and pursuing high-quality development.

For this training session, the Gansu Provincial Peking Opera Troupe has selected a group of young key members with solid foundations, passion for Peking Opera, and development potential as trainees through multiple rounds of screening. It is believed that with the guidance of the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and the strong support of artists, Peking Opera art will surely radiate new vitality in the Longyuan region (Gansu province). This east-west cultural exchange and collaboration between Tianjin and Gansu is destined to yield fruitful outcomes.

For this training program, the Tianjin Peking Opera Theatre has leveraged its high-quality resources to assemble a strong faculty team. Nine renowned masters have been selected, including Peking Opera performing artist Wang Ping, Cheng School virtuoso Lü Yang, celebrated jinghu player Tang Zhengang, National First-Class Drummer Sun Yong, and National First-Class Performer Ma Guoxiang. Multiple fields such as performance, jinghu accompaniment, percussion, opera makeup, costumes, helmet and costume management, and business administration were covered. It will provide concentrated instruction spanning at least 21 days to 16 trainees from the Gansu Peking Opera Troupe through a master-apprentice mentoring model. In addition, Tianjin Peking Opera Theater will establish Gansu as a key platform for the popularization of Peking Opera art and public cultural activities, providing high-quality stage art works for Gansu's Peking Opera practitioners and enthusiasts, to achieve a dual harvest in both social and economic benefits.
