Gansu Delegation Showcases at Hong Kong Licensing Expo, Pioneering New Gansu-HK Cultural Industry Partnerships

On April 30, the Hong Kong International Licensing Show, hosted by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), concluded successfully. At this global cultural and creative industry event, the Gansu delegation made a stunning debut with the unique charm of"Silk Road Symphony·Wonderful Gansu". The delegation, comprising over 30 cultural institutions, enterprises, intangible cultural heritage inheritors, and universities, facilitated over 100 cooperation intentions through targeted business matchmaking and successfully signed four strategic agreements, marking a new chapter in cultural industry collaboration between Gansu and Hong Kong. The fruitful outcomes of the exhibition highlighted the innovative vitality of Gansu's cultural sector.

As Asia's largest licensing exhibition, the HKTDC has built a global bridge for Gansu's cultural IPs through its professional and internationally oriented exhibition operations. During the event, the Gansu delegation leveraged exclusive features arranged by the organizers, including one-on-one business matching sessions, industry resource networking meetings, and university-enterprise collaboration talks. These platforms enabled precise connections between Dunhuang art, Silk Road patterns, and intangible cultural heritage crafts from Gansu and international design resources, global marketing networks, and major domestic manufacturers.

On the closing day of the exhibition, the signing of four major cooperation agreements became the focus. Lanzhou Cultural and Creative Industry Park reached an IP licensing cooperation with Hong Kong Longzhi; it also reached an intention cooperation with the China-Western Cultural and Art Development Association on jointly promoting the "International JPA Youth Art Exchange Project". Through art touring exhibitions, competitions, research activities, etc., this project aims to promote cultural and artistic interaction among Chinese and foreign teenagers and enhance the internationalization level of art education in Gansu Province. Dunhuang Gifts Cultural Tourism Co., Ltd. reached a cooperation with the Confucius Museum on the marketing planning and promotion of the Dunhuang Gifts IP, cultural and creative development, cultural and creative design competitions, cultural and creative markets, etc.; it also joined hands with Shandong Fine Arts Publishing House on the Dunhuang Gifts IP and the Wenming Chinese Pattern Digital Resource Platform for cooperation.

Moreover, at this licensing exhibition, Gansu's master artisans and intangible cultural heritage inheritors attracted significant attention from domestic and international enterprises. Companies showed strong interest in Gansu's ethnic folk culture, paper-cutting art, and embroidery craftsmanship, expressing eagerness to collaborate with traditional artisans to unlock greater commercial potential.Yang Haiyan, provincial inheritor of Yugur ethnic costume, reached a preliminary cooperation agreement with the Beijing Municipal Cultural Heritage Bureau on innovative preservation of traditional culture;Institutions including the National Library of China, Guangzhou Art Museum, and Qinghai Zoo Cultural & Creative Department expressed intent to collaborate with Gao Yunqin, a master artisan from Shandan Bailie School, to develop paper-cutting study programs;Ma Yanping from Baiyin Linlan Copper Art Culture Development Co., Ltd. held detailed discussions with Shandong Fine Arts Publishing House on pattern licensing and other partnerships...

Following the exhibition's conclusion, the Gansu delegation continued to generate value through specialized study programs. The team conducted an in-depth exchange forum at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University's School of Design, where Gansu enterprises demonstrated keen interest in the school's ongoing projects and expressed strong intent for university-industry collaboration.

The Gansu delegation has consistently leveraged its platform advantages to propel the internationalization of Gansu's cultural IPs, steadfastly fulfilling its mission of cultural empowerment. Through cultural exports, artistic exchanges, international study programs, and high-skilled talent cultivation, the delegation has established a globally-reaching cultural promotion network, significantly advancing Gansu Province's cultural trade expansion overseas.
