By strengthening the construction of innovation platforms, promoting key core technology research, strengthening basic research in the ecological field, and providing stable support for high-level scientific and technological innovation talents and high-skilled talents, we will implement science and technology to empower the ecological protection and governance of the Yellow River Basin and build a solid national ecological security barrier.

The Gansu Provincial Department of Science and Technology is guided by the national strategic needs in the ecological field and strengthens the construction of strategic science and technology platforms. The "one room, one policy" research and development of the national key laboratory reorganization plan. With targeted support for major scientific and technological projects, it fully promotes the reorganization of national key laboratories such as the "National Key Laboratory of Permafrost Engineering", "National Key Laboratory of Cryosphere Science", and "National Key Laboratory of Arid Habitat Crops Co-built by the Province and the Ministry", and builds high-level innovation platforms. It plans to build 9 national field observation stations such as the "Gannan Grassland Ecosystem Field Scientific Observation and Research Station" and the "Gansu Minqin Desert Grassland Ecosystem National Field Scientific Observation and Research Station". The "Gansu Provincial Key Laboratory for Desertification Control" was newly established, 37 provincial key laboratories in the ecological field were optimized and integrated, and 27 provincial field observation stations were built. The role of gathering innovative talents through various innovation platforms has been continuously enhanced, providing scientific and technological support and intellectual support for serving the major national strategy of the Yellow River.

At the same time, the Gansu Provincial Department of Science and Technology actively builds a scientific and technological plan and policy system to support the construction of ecological civilization in Gansu. A provincial key research and development project for ecological civilization construction has been added to the provincial science and technology plan to provide stable support for scientific research on ecological environmental protection. The "Several Measures for Gansu Province's Science and Technology Support for Comprehensive Desertification Control" was formulated to solve the "bottleneck" technical problems in the comprehensive prevention and control of desertification and the construction of the "Three Norths" project, and to improve the quality of the desert ecosystem in our province. The "Implementation Plan for Science and Technology Support to Lead Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality (2022-2030)" was issued to accelerate the green transformation of the province's economy and society.

The Yellow River provides a broad space for scientific and technological innovation. And science and technology also bring unlimited possibilities to the protection of the Yellow River. The Gansu Provincial Department of Science and Technology focuses on the key core technology research of the Yellow River Basin Ecological Protection Organization.
