The Lugang Logistics Company of Gansu Logistics Group Visited Russia for Business Exchanges
Wu Xiaotao, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Lugang Logistics Company of Gansu Logistics Group, and his delegation recently visited the Qiuna Timber Processing Plant of Xinchun Group in Russia and Gansu Logistics Group’s Russian overseas warehouse to accelerate the high-quality development of the regional timber industry, strengthen cooperation and exchanges with key enterprises in the timber industry chain, and steadily expand the company’s cross-border timber trade business. They conducted business exchanges on the logging and processing of wood products, the current status of the industry, and the wood import and export projects that both parties have carried out. They also conducted on-site investigations on the operation of overseas warehouses.
Wang Tiesheng, general manager of the Qiuna Timber Processing Plant of Xinchun Group in Russia, extended a warm welcome to Wu Xiaotao and his delegation and led them to visit the sawmill, charcoal sector, drying kiln, and other production areas. He gave a detailed introduction to the primary conditions of the Qiuna Timber Processing Plant, the harvesting and processing process of wood, and the import and export trade of timber in recent years. Wang Tiesheng pointed out that the Qiuna Timber Processing Plant is affiliated with Xinchun Group and is mainly engaged in forest logging, wood processing, wood drying, and the production of machine-made charcoal, sawn wood, dry planed wood, laminated lumber, etc. In recent years, by basing itself on international and domestic markets, Xinchun Group has extended the intensive processing industry chain of wood. It has now developed into a cross-industry, cross-regional, and cross-border comprehensive multinational group company integrating Russian forest harvesting, domestic and foreign wood processing, and logistics transportation.
Through in-depth talks and exchanges between the two parties, Wu Xiaotao gained a detailed understanding of the production and operation of the Qiuna Timber Processing Plant and the operation and management of Russian overseas warehouses. He said that the Lugang Logistics Company has seized the most significant opportunities of the “Belt and Road” initiative in recent years, relying on state-owned enterprises' brand and resource advantages to give full play to its pioneering role. It focuses on developing trade and logistics businesses for China-Europe wood. The help of the “district-port linkage” model urges the company to improve the quality and efficiency of laminated timber projects in the Comprehensive Bonded Zone in the Lanzhou New District. It has achieved good results in promoting the integrated development of supply chain industries for transnational timber.
It is reported that Gansu Logistics Group has jointly built a Russian overseas warehouse with Xinchun Group to carry out a business integrating warehousing, logistics, transportation, and sales focusing on imported timber, which has effectively reduced the impact of the periodicity of timber harvesting on the collection of international trains. On the one hand, it has expanded overseas markets such as Russia and expanded the influence of the wood industry; on the other hand, it has improved the capabilities of its supply chain. It has formed a good situation in which the raw material market of wood radiates to surrounding areas, the processing industry of wood gathers, and the related supporting industries develop rapidly, injecting new vitality into the export-oriented economy of Gansu Province. Since establishing the Russian overseas warehouse in June this year, 7,180.11 cubic meters of timber have been shipped.
The two sides also held in-depth discussions on the full-year plan for 2024. The communication focused on the “import and export trade volume of timber, development, and expansion of domestic and foreign markets, and the shape of the timber industry chain.” The two parties are determined to cooperate in multiple dimensions, such as joint promotion, channel expansion, and marketing. Both parties expressed their hope to take this exchange as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation further, give full play to their respective advantages, optimize resource allocation, accelerate the formation of a new collaborative and integrated development situation, and enhance market competitiveness.
